Affiliate Application Form

In operation since 1999, COS is a registered Canadian charity which functions as a development corporation working to support Canadian Social Enterprise and poverty reduction. We receive charitable donations and deploy donated funds to qualified donees in order to build and support social enterprises that offer quality jobs to low income populations in Canada. COS is registered in Manitoba, Ontario, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.

COS GOALS

  1. Transform existing enterprises to foster model workplaces and vibrant social enterprise. COS sees “model workplaces” as having quality jobs, solid benefit plans, options for employee ownership, and management practices that ensure tangible employee participation in enterprise success;
  2. Provide financial support and other assistance to low income populations in order to promote the transformation of existing operations and development of new operations;
  3. Enhance the employability of low income people through the support of economic opportunities designed to assist them in gaining entry into or advancing in the workforce;
  4. Maintain direct on-going control of its resources to ensure outcomes and impact are achieved and to ensure COS’s charitable status and registration is protected;

REQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS

Prospective donees must apply for affiliation with COS by demonstrating business viability and compatibility with COS goals. If qualified for COS affiliation through a successful application, the applicant will be granted COS Affiliate status for 5 years. Affiliate status may be extended and it may be revoked if the activities of the Affiliate become incompatible with COS goals. Affiliates in good standing may enter into project specific funding agreements that will have their own terms and requirements.
